www.lax.com - In a meeting between two of the top lacrosse programs in the Ivy League, the University of Pennsylvania Quakers hosted the Yale Bulldogs at the famed Franklin Field in Philadelphia, PA. It was the 69th meeting between the two historic schools who first met in 1926 and have squared off in every single season since 1948, with Yale leading the all time series 41-27. With first place in the Ivy League on the line for Yale, the Bulldogs entered the game with a three game win streak with all-American Ben Reeves leading the way. The Quakers entered the game with a 4-3 record after a win over another Ivy League opponent Cornell the previous week. After falling behind early, a offensive outburst from Yale was the story of the first half, with the Bulldogs racing out to a 6-4 lead heading into the half. The offense would continue as the Yale lead would reach 13-7 in the fourth, but Penn would rally to pull within two with just over a minute to play. That would be the closest the Quakers would come however, as the Bulldogs would run out the clock en route to a 14-12 win. Reeves would lead all players on the day with seven points, including a career high five goals. For Penn, Kevin McGeary and Reilly Hupfeldt each tallied hat tricks in the loss. Yale will look to build on tier current winning streak when they travel to Queens, NY to play St. John’s while Penn will continue Ivy league play when they travel to Harvard.
