In the latest chapter of the lacrosse rivalry known as “Cortaca ”, the aSUNY Cortland men’s lacrosse team hosted the Ithaca College Bombers for a mid-week matchup in Cortland, NY. As one of the most respected rivalries in D3 lacrosse, both upstate New York powerhouses entered the game with undefeated records while also sitting in the top ten of the national rankings. After dropping last years meeting by a score of 18-12, the Red Dragons looked for some revenge on the Bombers, this time on their home field. From the first whistle, Ithaca jumped out to an early lead with senior John Januszkiewicz leading the way. Heading into the final quarter down by a score of 11-6, the Red Dragons came roaring back with a 5-0 run to tie the game with 3:17 left to play to force to overtime. With this being the fourth time in the last five meetings that extra time was needed between the two schools, junior Nate Beresovoy capped the comeback for Cortland three minutes into the extra frame to give the Red Dragons a 12-11 win.
