Heading into a pivotal lacrosse match up, the number one ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish hosted ACC rival Syracuse University with first place in the ACC on the line in South Bend, IN. With their one loss coming to Denver earlier in the season, Notre Dame head into the game with a 5-1 record. For Syracuse, the “Cardiac Orange ” have made a habit of playing down to the wire games, with several of their six wins coming in the games final seconds or overtime. With the stage set at the famed Arlotta Stadium, lax.com was on scene to catch all the action. From the first whistle, the game went back and forth as each team had an answer for each other, trading goals throughout the first half. In the third, the Orange began to pull away from the Irish, leading by a score of9-6. However the Irish would answer with a three goal run to tie the game as it entered the final frame. It was there that Syracuse senior Nick Mariano put the game away for Syracuse, scoring the final two goals for the Orange as Syracuse would hang on for another one goal win with a 11-10 victory. Mariano would lead all players with four goals while Notre Dame sophomore Brendan Gleason scored two to lead the Irish.
