In a showdown between two of the MIAA's top programs and a rematch of the Division One state championship from 2016, the McDonogh Eagles boy's lacrosse team traveled to the Boys' Latin School for a highly anticipated game with the Lakers. With both teams looking to cement themselves atop of the MIAA standings, a playoff like atmosphere was felt in front of a large crowd at J. Duncan Smith Field. After falling behind early, the Lakers battled back agains their rivals, eventually taking a lead into the fourth quarter. it is there that the Eagles would storm back, scoring the equalizer to force overtime with just over a minute play. That would set up overtime where Boys' Latinsenior Jake Glatz would take the opening face-off down the field to score the game winning goal, securing a 10-9 win for the Lakers.
