In a pivotal matchup to determine the 2017 Patriot League regular season champion and home fieldadvantage through the league championships on the line, the fourteenth ranked Army West Point men's lacrosse team hosted the Loyola University Greyhounds at the famed Michie Stadium in West Point, NY. The Friday night showdown featured the surging Greyhounds and Tewaaraton nominee Pat Spencer squaring off agains the stout Black Knights, who ranked eighth in the country in overall defense for the 2017 season. The game started out in the Black Knights favor, as they took an early 1-0 lead off the opening face-off on a junior John Ragno's first goal of the season. Loyolaa would quickly answer back and the teams would trade goals through the first quarter. However, the second quarter would begin the Greyhounds run to victory as they would take an 8-5 lead into the half and would hold Army to only one goal in the second half en route to a 14-6 win. Junior Jay Drapeau would lead all players with six points on four goals and two assists while Cole Johnson tallied four points for Army in the loss.
