To open their 100th season, the Army West Point men's lacrosse team traveled to Amherst to take on the University of Massachusetts. It isthe seventh consecutive season that Army and Umass have opened their respected lacrosse seasons against each other, with the Minutemen holding a slight lifetime series edge over the Black Knights. Led by its stifling defense and two goals apiece from Cole Johnson, David Symes, and Matthew Donovan and a stellar effort in cage from AJ Barretto, who made seven saves, the Army West Point Black Knights cruised to a 9-2 victory. The Minutementallied one goal apiece from Dan Muller and Gianni Bianchin, while senior goaltender D.J. Smith made a career high 12 saves.
