Founded in 2008, the Harlem Lacrosse league was introduced to the students of Federick Douglass Academy in Harlem New York as a way for the leagues co-founder Simon Cataldo to connect with and engage his most academically and behaviorally challenged students. Since its inception, the HLL has grown by leaps and bounds, adding programs to more cities across the nation and having over 850 active student athletes. By using the lessons learned both in the classroom and on the field, HLL alumni have gone on to earn scholarships on both the D1 ad D3 levels. This past fall, the students of FDA and HLL New York were treated to a series of special practices that featured visits from the Powell Brothers, Dom Starsia, Princeton womens lacrosse head Coach Chris Sailer, and most notably, lacrosse and NFL legend Jim Brown. Lax.com was on scene to catch the interaction between these lacrosse legends, leading up to the Harlem Lacrosse Banquet.
