WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America men's lacrosse team has now matched its best start in five years as they improved to 6-1 overall with a neutral site win over Swarthmore, 10-7, in Clearwater, Fla. A superb defensive second half along with three fourth quarter goals for the Cardinals now have Catholic on a five-game winning streak. The Cards led by one at the half, 7-6, when sophomore goalkeeper Jack Schmidt entered the contest as was stellar in the cage as he stopped seven of eight shots. It was a tie game after the first three quarters, but Catholic dominated the final frame as they blanked Swarthmore on the scoresheet and forced five turnovers without committing one. Senior Victor Licata scored the gamewinner with 9:41 left in the game, his second goal of the game. Senior Tim Keith notched the insurance goal just 35 seconds later as he completed the hat trick. The third score of the fourth quarter came on a man-up situation as Licata found junior Bennett Bradley for his second goal of the day.
