FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Methodist men's lacrosse team used a 6-0 run in the second and third quarters to pull away for a 13-6 win over Greensboro on Wednesday afternoon at Monarch Stadium. The Monarchs improved to 8-2 on the season, while the Pride dropped to 2-8 thus far. Greensboro scored first in what was a sluggish first quarter. Daniel Wolf gave the Pride a 1-0 lead off a feed from Davis Miller at the 6:16 mark. Andrew Ruskey knotted the score at 1-1 for the Green and Gold, scoring off a feed from Jake Smerka just 37 seconds later. Neither team managed to find the back of the net until MU's Tyson Haith scored with seven seconds on the clock to make it 2-1 after one period of play. In the second quarter, Ruskey and Chris Lombardi scored to push MU's lead to 4-1 with 10:46 left in the stanza. Miller and Wolf countered for the Pride, giving MU a 4-3 lead before MU's tide-turning run. Aaron Ward scored following a pass from Kyle Clarkson with 4:38 left in the second quarter for a 5-3 lead, and Clarkson added another late goal, this one with 13 seconds left before halftime as MU enjoyed a 6-3 lead at the break. Haith, Ruskey, Clarkson and Smerka scored the first four goals of the second half as the MU lead swelled to 10-3 with 5:55 left in the period. From there, each team added three goals, including two apiece from MU's Jay Robinson and GC's Wolf to account for the final score.
