The University of Dallas Men's Lacrosse team (1-1) fell to Millsaps College (2-3) on the road Sunday in a 10-1 final. Down 5-0 at halftime, the Crusaders etched their lone goal of the game by Ryan Thie (Saint Paul, Minn.). It was not enough as the Majors posted another stretch of five unanswered goals to give UD its first loss of 2017. NOTABLE STATISTICS (Individual Notes) - Thie attempted one shot and was on mark as he scored UD's only goal. - Jake Frederick (Coppell, Texas) added an assist on that scoring sequence for the other road point in the stats. - Christian Lopez (Las Vegas, Nev.) was saddled with the loss in 60 minutes between the pipes. He snagged nine saves. - Ben Blessard tallied a team-high seven shots. - Millsaps was led offensively by Parks Douglass with four goals and three assists for seven points. - Sam Snyder and Garrett Perez each had multiple scoring games. Perez led all players with 12 attempts. - Dante Bertucci-Ness made five saves against all shots faced in the win. He split 30 minutes with Michael Andrepont in the goalkeeper position. (Team Notes) - The Crusaders won eight faceoffs compared to seven by Millsaps. Andrew Jones (Austin, Texas) was 6-for-9 for Dallas. - It was home that led in almost all categories. The Majors boasted a 38-19 edge in shots. - UD turned the ball over 20 times compared to 16 by Millsaps. Dallas was 16-of-21 in clears, while its opponent only failed twice (25-27). - Groundballs nearly were even as UD was outdone 30-29. Dallas had a 10-6 edge in the 3rd quarter. HOW IT HAPPENED The Majors scored three times in the first quarter and never looked back. Cameron Director, Snyder, and Spencer Davis, respectively, each scored for the home side. Perez and Parks Douglass added scores in the second stanza to make it 5-0 at half. In the third quarter, Thie netted the road team's first goal to cut the deficit to 5-1. Douglass found the back of the cage later to counter what would end up being five straight goals for Millsaps. This run included four in the final 15 minutes.
