ATLANTA, GA – The Randolph College men's lacrosse team had 12 different players score, as the team defeated Oglethorpe University 16-4 on Thursday. The WildCats controlled the action right from the start. Prince Charles won the opening faceoff, and after a turnover, the team sent several shots near the Stormy Petrels crease. Two were saved and one rattled the post, but the 'Cats maintained possession and capitalized on the sixth shot. Bryan Ramey caught a pass from Brett Pausic, and fired it home. OU had an opportunity soon after, but Matt Lindenbaum made a stop, starting a clear attempt. It was successful and Joel Cornell scored the first of his career, catching a pass from Mitch MacDonald. Randolph kept the pressure and with 4:11 left in the first, Kadri Hearns made it 3-0, as he ripped one into the back of the net, with Ryan Campbell getting the assist. Lindenbaum was called on to make one more save in the period, keeping the margin the same. It was a similar story in the second, as six shots were registered by Randolph in less than four and a half minutes. The only difference was that number five and six ended up in the netting. MacDonald had the first off of a Campbell connection, while Nick Junkin-Mills made it 5-0, with Pausic orchestrating that one. The Stormy Petrels pulled one back at 9:09, but the momentum shift did not last long. Shane Shifflet scored on the man-up just under a minute later, with Pausic once again assisting. After Charles won again at the 'X', MacDonald finished a pass from Hearns. Then, Graham Southwick made it 8-1, scoring off of a Campbell pass on the man-advantage with six minutes left in the half. The rest of the half featured less scoring, as the WildCats were able to force several turnovers. However, with 2:03 remaining, Pausic got his chance at adding a tally, catching a pass from Shifflet and putting the lead at 9-1 entering the break. It did not take long for Randolph to add to its lead in the second half. Campbell got his first of the afternoon at 13:33. Oglethorpe came back on attack after, and Corey Boswell made a stop, but Nathaniel Gillespie found the back of the cage, cutting the margin to eight. Shifflett and Southwick came back and made short work of extending the advantage once again. The two scored inside two minutes of each other, giving the 'Cats a 12-2 lead. After several minutes of stout defending, including another save by Boswell and a caused turnover by Erik Gulbronson, Charles and Scott Wilkinson each scored. Shane Soghomonian assisted on the latter one, putting the WildCats ahead 14-2 entering the fourth. Ramey and Josh Yeast traded goals with two members of the Stormy Petrels in the fourth, as the game would end with a 16-4 win.
