BOYDS, Md. – The Shenandoah University men's lacrosse team earned its third straight victory Thursday afternoon with a 10-7 win over Marymount University. The win for the Hornets (5-2) is the squad's first over Marymount (2-6) since the 1995 season. Shenandoah jumped to a 6-1 lead over the Saints, and after MU tied it at 6-6 with five straight goals from the 6:22 mark of the second to the 10:40 mark of the third, reeled off four of the game's final five goals to secure the win. Coach Tim Marshall's club scored four straight after MU tied it, with Mitchell Fleming putting the Hornets on top to stay by converting a Jeff Goss feed with 6:57 remaining in the third. Just more than three minutes later, Michael Brooks scored unassisted for what proved to be the game-winning goal. Tilghman Sanders and Ryan Schott goals followed, off of assists from Jeff Geddis and Goss, respectively, to provide SU with a four-goal cushion. Marymount closed the book on the day's scoring with a goal 4:50 prior to the final buzzer. "Today's win was great for our program," Marshall said. "We showed great poise when Marymount tied the game up. We stuck to the game plan, and came away with a win against a talented opponent." SU outshot its hosts 31-25 with MU grabbing 24 of the game's 44 groundballs and winning 14 of 21 faceoffs. Hornets goalkeeper Ben Judy had 12 saves. Senior Stephen LaTona finished the game with two goals and is now just two points from tying Stephen Mayor '09 for the all-time lead at Shenandoah. LaTona is also 13 goals back of Mayor for the all-time lead in that category.
