The Bowdoin College men's lacrosse team won its sixth straight game, picking up a 10-7 win over Trinity at Whittier Field on Saturday afternoon. The Polar Bears move to 6-2 (3-2 NESCAC) this spring while the Bantams drop to 3-5 (0-4 NESCAC). Game Highlights The teams traded goals in the opening period, with Bowdoin's game-opening tally from Matthew Crowell being answered by consecutive goals from Trinity's Ben Knaus and Andrew Collins. The Polar Bears evened the score on a Kendall Rogers goal with 10 seconds left in the frame to make it 2-2 after one quarter. Bowdoin took the lead for good in the second quarter, getting goals from Brett Kujala and Jeff Powers - just 16 seconds before the break - to take a 5-3 edge into halftime. After Crowell opened the scoring in the third quarter, Trinity drew within one goal as Knaus and Matt Gardiner found the back of the net within a two-minute span to make it 6-5 Bowdoin. The Polar Bears answered again with goals from Shawn Daly and Tim Bulens to carry an 8-5 lead into the fourth. Trinity came within two goals on two occasions but could get no closer as a Donal Mullane goal with 1:43 remaining put the game away for Bowdoin. By The Numbers Bowdoin goaltender John Young was excellent, stopping 14 shots on the afternoon. Trinity netminder Woody Hamilton made ten stops for the Bantams. Bowdoin owned a 41-28 advantage in shots and 25-17 edge in ground balls for the game. Sam Carlin was the top faceoff performer, winning 13 of 20 tries for the Polar Bears. Matthew Crowell finished with three goals to lead the Polar Bears, followed by two from Kujala. Ben Knaus led Trinity with a pair of goals. Defensively, Parker Sessions led all players with three caused turnovers for Bowdoin. Up Next Bowdoin heads to Lewiston on Wednesday evening to face Bates at 7:00 p.m. Trinity will head to New London to battle Connecticut College at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening.
