BABSON PARK, Mass.- Juniors Samuel Mishkind (Chappaqua, N.Y.) and Brendan Duffy (Duxbury, Mass.) combined for three goals over the final minute of play as Babson rallied to defeat visiting Rogers Williams, 11-10, on Thursday night at MacDowell Field. With the win Babson moves to 3-3 on the year, while Roger Williams falls to 2-3 overall. Mishkind led all scorers with five goals, junior Niall Dillon (Duxbury, Mass.) recorded two goals and two assists, while sophomores Luke Talman (Del Mar, Calif.) and Owen Peterson (San Diego, Calif.) both caused three turnovers. First-year Jack Tague (Fairfield, Conn.) picked up five groundballs for the Beavers. Sophomore Jude Marzec (West Islip, N.Y.) posted three goals, senior Justin MacIntyre (Norwalk, Conn.) logged two goals and two assists, and first-year Peter Navarro (Londonderry, N.H.) chipped in with two goals for the Hawks. Sophomore Harrison Levesque (Ridgefield, Conn.) picked up a game-high seven groundballs, while classmate Brian Brockwell (Duxbury, Mass.) caused two turnovers. Mishkind put the Beavers on the board early in the first quarter, but the Hawks recorded five consecutive goals to take a 5-1 lead with 10:29 remaining in the second quarter. Babson and Roger Williams traded goals for the remainder of the period with the Hawks holding a 7-4 lead heading into halftime. MacIntyre netted the first goal of the third quarter at 11:26 to give Roger Williams an 8-4 lead, but back-to-back goals by Mishkind and Dillon cut the deficit to 8-6 with 5:44 to go in the stanza. The Hawks responded with a goal at the 4:47 mark to end the quarter with a 9-6 lead. Niall scored a man-up goal with 6:49 left in the fourth period, while first-year Will Messner (S. Kingstown, R.I) tallied a goal of his own just over a minute later to bring the Beavers within one at 9-8. Navarro extended the Hawk's lead back to two when he recorded a goal with 1:22 remaining on the clock, but Mishkind responded with a goal with 55 seconds left in regulation. Trailing, 10-9, with 28 seconds left on the clock, sophomore Owen Allen (Franklin, Mass.) caused a Hawk turnover, and with a pass over the goal, Mishkind scored the equalizing goal with just 16 seconds to go in the stanza. The Beavers won the final faceoff and after receiving the ball, Duffy's shot attempt was blocked. After getting the ball back, Duffy cut through the defense and with a shot from the far side of the net, recorded the game-winning goal with less than a second remaining to give the Beavers an 11-10 victory. Sophomore Christopher Aranalde (Rockville Centre, N.Y) stopped seven shots for the Beavers, while junior Weston Nolan (Falmouth, Maine) made 17 saves in defeat for the Hawks. Babson returns to action when it heads to Fort Washington, Pa. for an 11 a.m. match on Wednesday against Sewanee, while the Hawks hit the road a 1 p.m. match against John & Wales.
